FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your rates?

Rates are determined by the type of service or services you choose. The initial consultation is complimentary. When you call to schedule a service, we will discuss what you’re looking to accomplish so we can allow enough time. You’ll also have an idea of the cost involved. Unlike some facial rejuvenation salons, I will not undercut my price only to attempt to upsell you. This is one of the reasons my clients come to me again and again.

Do men and women request facial rejuvenation?

I focus on non-surgical treatments which are designed to make your facial skin and profile look younger and more refreshed. The services are commonly requested by both women and men of all ages. In fact, although often associated with women, increasing numbers of men are having facial rejuvenation procedures.

What exactly does non-surgical mean?

Non-surgical procedures can be topical, such as creams and peels as well as injectable, such as toxins and fillers. All of these procedures take place in my med spa without the need for an operating room or anesthesia. There are no incisions and recovery time is minimal.

What non-surgical options are available for facial rejuvenation?

The most common non-surgical procedures include injection of botulinum toxin (Botox Cosmetic®) to relax muscles and smooth wrinkles. Injection of soft-tissue fillers (Juvederm®, Juvederm Ultra®, Juvederm Ultra Plus®, Vollure®, Volbella®, Voluma® ) to augment lips, cheeks, chin, and jawline to optimize your appearance. Injections to dissolve fat and minimize a double chin (Kybella®). Chemical peels are used to smooth the skin and minimize brown sports. Microdermabrasion is used to rejuvenate the skin.

How do non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures fit in with health and wellness?

The goal of non-surgical rejuvenation is to improve how you look and feel about yourself. It is not meant to turn you into someone else, but to help you appear to be the best, most well-rested and refreshed version of you. In addition to that, self-esteem is often connected to a person’s appearance, and self-esteem contributes to mental well-being, which in turn contributes to physical health.

What is the difference between botulinum toxin and facial fillers?

Botulinum toxin (Botox Cosmetic®) is a highly purified neurotoxin that temporarily relaxes muscles. This effect causes facial lines and wrinkles to appear less prominent. The facial fillers, composed of a naturally-occurring substance in the body called hyaluronic acid, actually fill tissue in order to restore lost volume in cheeks, augment lips and chin, and minimize the appearance of deep wrinkles.

How long does it take for the results of a non-surgical rejuvenation to show?

Botulinum toxins take about three to four days to work. The results with filler are immediate.

How soon can one return to work after a non-surgical rejuvenation procedure?

There is minimal downtime after non-surgical rejuvenation procedures. If you have a special event coming up, please call me as soon as possible to schedule your appointment. Each procedure is different and instructions will be given when you book your appointment to allow adequate recovery time.

Can makeup be applied immediately after facial rejuvenation procedures?

After injections, fillers or a chemical peel, it’s best to wait until the following day to apply makeup so your skin can heal properly.

Do non-surgical rejuvenation procedures produce bruises on the face?

Bruising is a potential after-effect of any injection. It is more common in clients who take blood thinners such as aspirin, fish oil or herbal remedies. Drinking alcohol before a procedure may also cause bruising.

How many times can non-surgical rejuvenation procedures be repeated?

These procedures can be repeated as often as is needed to achieve the desired results. Botulinum toxins last anywhere between three to four months depending on the area treated. Botox Cosmetic® should not be injected into any one area more frequently than every three months. If the results do not last 90 days, the dosage should be increased and this will be discussed at your appointment.

To maintain results, fillers need to be refreshed every six to twelve months. They break down faster in areas that have more movement; for example around your mouth.

How does one maximize the results of a skin rejuvenation procedure?

All skin benefits from hydration, rest, a diet rich in antioxidants and vitamin A, and using sun protection at all times!

Using medical grade skin care products is vital to achieving and maintaining healthy skin. The use of retinoids can be discussed at your appointment. The brand I carry is Biogenix.

Does insurance cover any of these rejuvenation procedures?

No, they are considered cosmetic, and cosmetic procedures are not covered.
